respiratory problems

I have multiple allergies, starting when I was 14 and on going to present day. I am now a pensioner.

Last year, end April I was rushed to hospital(Blue lights) unable to breath. Dont remember the first few days in ward I was so ill.
was in 9 days. have been tested for COPD, TB. Aspergyllis etc etc
Admitted in June for 5 days, Nov 24 Hours. Then Dec 2012 for 11 days. Over the period had x rays, scans, blood tests etc etc.
Have been on oxygen, nebulisers, steroids, inhalers. anti biotics

I never had breathing prob before. I bought a memory foam mattress some months before cough started and have subsequently been reading adverse reactions posted on line.. Every Doctor I saw at hospital was told abt mattress, none believed me. One even said "I have one think they are great" Am I clutching at straws or in light of multiple allergies, including chemical Quaternium, could it be the mattress. Got rid of it in May as soon as I got home from first stay in. However cough has persisted. . Anyone got any ideas????????????

Re: respiratory problems

Hello
I can see that being taken to hospital by blue light ambulance must have been really frightening for you. You mentioned you have been tested for various conditions (TB, COPD etc). Did any of these tests reveal positive results or were they all negative? What was the working diagnosis - diagnosis on your discharge letter? Was it infection? Were you given any treatment to continue at home? Are you still taking medications? Do you smoke? Have you ever smoked?
I am sorry to be asking rather than advising, but I don't feel I have a grasp of what is going on.
With regards to your memory mattress - I just don't know enough about it to have an opinion. I have run a quick search on the internet and indeed there are some concerns expressed by the bloggers. I have also looked for any information in medical peer reviewed literature and it did not come up with anything. So simply I don't know and since you have lost your confidence in the product it sounds like you did the right thing to dispose of it.
Warmest wishes, Joanna
