Searing stingy pain

Postby vjayjayjay on Sat Mar 09, 2013 10:23 am

I often have to stop sex because it gets painful. My labia often swells and I tend to end the romance by sitting in a bath, in pain, alone. Sometimes I find it so painful I just put it off. It's really getting me down as me and my partner have been together 10 years and this really affects our sex life. Why do I get this pain? And why do I become so swollen?

May be a lot of possible reasons - have you tried some lubricants to see if this helps ?
Another may be a reaction to a condom.

The other really common thing is to be very sensitive to detergents. Detergents are in all soaps, even simple soap, bubble bath and shower gel. Using a really bland emollient for washing and as a soap substitute may help, such as epaderm ointment or emulsifying ointment. The effect of these does not last very long, so you need to keep using them regularly. It is also possible that you might have a skin condition affecting your vulva that could be treated, so it is probably worth seeing your GP and asking them to examine you. They might then refer you on to a specialist vulval clinic for treatment. In the meantime, definitely stop all use of soap on your vulva.

We never use condoms and I don't wash my vagina with anything but water. Have tried lubricants and these don't stop the pain or swelling. I've had this condition since being sexually active. It takes a good couple of hours to settle down.
Also, it's not every single time I have sex. It's most times, but occasionally I will be able to have very nice sex! It's rare though. I just can't pinpoint why. The doctors at my surgery tell me it's thrush and I've/ we've web treated many times, so I think it's safe to say I've exhausted that option!

Another cause could be recurrent herpes or rarely, allergy to semen.
