Bowel and bladder problems

Hi,

Five years ago I had constant bleeding and pain during sex. I was diagnosed with PID but after loads of tests including a laparoscopy it showed nothing. Whilst in and out of hospital I the. Had kidney stones and was in a really bad way. For the next eight months I was taking cocodamol, tramadol and diclofenac everyday, the maximum dose. I continued I be in constant pain with both my back (kidneys) and my stomach. I then started to get serious constipation followed by diarrhoea.

Five years later, I have since had a large cyst from my ovary removed (I have PCOS) and a hysteroscopy and laparoscopy again along with two cystoscopies. I continue to get UTIs and have constant stomach and back pain but no explanation. I constantly need to go to the toilet and am up at least three times in the night to go. I still have constipation which is painful and often followed by diarrhoea. Every urine test shows blood in my urine but no infection.

I am desperate to have an answer and some help.

Thanks for the enquiry.

I have to say that my strong impression is that the priority is a gynaecological/bladder opinion. Your varying bowel function could relate to the medications you are requiring, especially any pain killers or antibiotics.

Re: Bowel and bladder problems

Thank you Dr.

I have seen a urologist and gynaecologist and took six months of antibiotics about two years ago. I no longer take any medication other than occasional pain killers so don't think my bowel problems are due to that. I have recently started bleeding heavily and am in my sixth week of this. My gp said its because of my pill cerazette but I have taken it for five years and this has never happened. The pain is really bad.

Re: Bowel and bladder problems

If you are in constant pain then dont be afraid to take painkillers. If you havent seen a urologist for 2 years it would be worth been re refferred in case the stones have returned...If they see blood in the urine then they may want to perform a cystoscopy...this is when they look inside the bladder with a special camera. They may also need to perform an Ultrasound scan of your kidneys and bladder. Drink plenty of fluids regularily..
