Teenager not copeing with p.s

My names sammi, im from Liverpool uk.. Currently age 17..
ive been diagnosed with p.s for over 2 years and have only just been refared to a specialist..
im finding that they are still giving me the same things that the doctors used to give me.

I have the psoriasis all over my body.. and i mean all over..
its really uncompfortable.. it feels like sunburn when i lye down on my bed..
im really embarrased about it too because people notice it and i no they stop and stare..
so my confidence level really has fell below 0..
i bleed all the time also.. even one little knock will make me bleed somewhere :/

i was wondering if anyone has any home remidies?
or can help me with my problem.. xx

Hi Sammi,

I'm so sorry to hear about the pain and embarrassment your psoriasis is causing you. I had it really badly at your age too, which was about 10 years ago. Its great that you now have a doctor who is giving you the right creams etc.

Obviously I'm not a doctor but you might want to ask about the possibility of light treatment. It might not be right for you but it can be an effective treatment.

I completely sympathise with your feelings of embarrassment but I promise you it won't be as noticeable as you think. I'd love to know how things go for you and if you are ever really down about it this is a great forum to look for support from people who have experienced it too.

All the best. :)

Re: Teenager not copeing with p.s

My heart goes out to you - I have been there. I inherited my psoriasis from my mothers side of the family and it has been diagnosed moderate to severe. I have been on creams - diprolene and sinalar which didn't help me out one bit and most recently i was taken medication (remicade) which caused me severe headaches. I got sick and tired of the medication and resolved myself to the fact i would always have psoriasis. I was wary about using 'magical products' which the internet seams to be full of but i took a chance with a cream by mama nature because the same company make a natural nasal spray i used to cure a sinus infection i had. I use the cream in a combo with an argan oil lotion they also do. I find the oil a bit impractical to apply during the day as it takes about an hour to absorb in to my skin. So i smear this on at least an hour before bed time. It is not greasy but still takes time to dry in. I use the cream daily and apply it in the morning and then another couple of times if needed (sometimes i can have really itchy days). The difference within a space of two months has been incredible and my family and friends cannot believe it. I cannot say for certain it will work if you have psoriasis all i can do is give my personal experience with these products. They have changed my life and i will be eternally thankful to them.

Re: Teenager not copeing with p.s

Hi Sammi,
Im 19 and i have psoriasis mostly all over my body aswell. I can honestly say that i know how your feeling as being a teenage girl is hard when you cant wear the same clothes as other girls or bikinis and you cant get changed in front of people. The summer that just passed I really hit a low point as my psoraisis got a whole lot worse. If you havnt tried light treatment get on to your doctor about it!! It really worked for me so its worth a try for you. I really hope it gets better for you and keep hope because something out there will work for you :) i found that i kept all my feelings inside about it also..and with psoriasis personally it affected my emotions greatly..but im very lucky to have an understanding boyfriend and friends so i urge you to talk about it :) Best of luck with everything x
