Prostate tests
My husband hates going to the doctors, I have encouraged him to go for a prostate examination to no avail. How else can I encourage him to go & how important it is? He is 54 years of age.

Re: Prostate tests
i would start with a PSA blood test if he is worried and only have a rectal exam if this is raised.
It is important if there is a family history or you are from a African or Caribbean backgound.
Clearly the only way to try and ensure you dont get affected by prostate cancer is to be tested for it .
At 54 PSA should be less than 3 ug/l
