Mr WLB and I are going through a challenging time at the moment.

Him with his reflux, throat issues, stress and anxiety…me with my usual fight of shifting weight, carving out a new career, and feeling frankly bloody exhausted all of the time!

But this isn’t a ‘poor me’ blog post at all…this is a ‘pull your fecking big girl pants up and get on with it’ kind of post! :-)

So first up for today was Mr WLB – here he is…

20140703-170410.jpg…ooops, wrong picture – here he is…

20140703-171316.jpgWe went to the hospital today for his throat check…during which he very strongly resembled the wild turkey pictured above! ;-)

The poor guy. I don’t think he expected the camera down his nose…I am terrible in situations like that and really struggled to hold in my giggles. I ended up sitting and reading the side of a latex glove box in order to keep a straight face. Every time I looked at Mr WLB I was wincing and trying not to laugh. It was one of those situations that laughter would not have been at all appropriate in! ;-) Obviously it was a very serious meeting and I was very worried about what may happen…but he looked so hilarious that I couldn’t help it!

Anyway, the upshot of the appointment is that he has a throat issue which is not life-threatening. It’s to do with the tightening of muscles. He was told to ‘chill’ by the rather dapper linen-suited and yellow bow-tied bedecked consultant. So it’s good news…but not so helpful to tell an anxiety and panic-attack sufferer to just ‘chill’! So we will be meditating more and working through the stress and anxiety. The acid-reflux is a separate issue…which we are hoping to manage with diet. No tablet or procedure will help with the muscle thing he has, so we need to continue to make lifestyle changes…together!

Not the miracle cure we were hoping for…but we all know that there aren’t any miracle cures out there! :-)

I then opened an email from my personal trainer. He has given me some food advice…eat more at breakfast again – so I have upped my egg intake as he suggested. Then he decided that on top of me now increasing my gym work – I will be back in there on Mondays again – and increasing the intensity of my workouts – HIIT (high intensity interval training) is on the list now for me as he is pretty pleased with my fitness levels, which means that HIIT won’t kill me – that he wanted to give me some other things to work towards.

He has also set me challenges on top of the above…

3 times round the hill route at the back of the gym which equates to about 5km with the walk there and back – ‘take water!’ he said!
2 x 5000m rows
100 squat throws

These need to be completed before next Friday. So I got cracking today and completed the squat throws and a row. Never let it be said that I am not up for a challenge.

I then went to catch up with one of my oldest friends…she’s not old…more of a long-standing friend. I hadn’t seen her in ages so we had a nice catch up and I got to see her beautiful daughter, who is her spitting image, that I hadn’t seen since she was breast-feeding!

Then it was a first session with a new coaching client. What an amazing lady. I am so excited for her as she’s got the goods to succeed…it makes me so excited on her behalf.

So it has been a day of great things. It has been a day that has reminded me that there is still a long way to go for both Mr WLB and I in terms of our health. I got to the gym and felt so tired…I was aching from yesterday’s training session, fed-up at having stayed the same this week, and generally couldn’t be bothered…but I bloody well went and did it…I did more than I had planned and it felt bloody marvellous.

If you really want something enough then you will find a way to make it happen. I just want Mr WLB and I to be the healthiest versions of ourselves. I don’t want to change us, I just want to make a few improvements. I love us and the way we are – quirks and turkey faces included – I just think that we make a great team and I am looking forward to our future.

So get your fecking big girl and big boy pants on and go out there and get what it is you want! ;-)

What I want now is sleep…and that is what I am going to go and get! :-)

Oh – I almost forgot…I got my final assignment results back – best mark so far…so a clutch of firsts all round – very happy about that! :-)

Breakfast: Rye toast (2 x HEB) boiled eggs, spinach, and a banana.
Lunch: Jacket potato, beans, cottage cheese, and fruit.
Dinner: Homemade hummus (2 syns), radishes, cherry tomatoes, yellow pepper, and spring onions with feta cheese (2 x HEA).
Snacks: Nakd bars (13 syns) and fruit.

20140703-181905.jpgExercise: 30 minutes rowing machine – more than covered my first 5000m challenge – followed by 15 minutes treadmill, 100 squat and throws with the medicine ball – a second challenge item ticked off the list – followed by another 15 minutes on the treadmill.

WeightLossBitch

On a health and fitness driven journey to lose over 32st / 448lbs / 203kgs – yes, it is a considerable amount – I am committed to losing my excess weight without the aid of weight loss surgery, diet pills, or quick fixes…as there aren’t any! Changing my eating habits and building up my fitness levels, along with addressing the ‘head issues’ will be crucial in order for me to achieve my goal. Living in England as a 31 year old super morbidly obese woman can be challenging to say the least. I have been shouted at in the street and verbally abused far too many times to mention; hence the name ‘Weight Loss Bitch’…the day I am just called a ‘bitch’ instead of a ‘fat bitch’ will be the day that I know I have cracked my weight loss! With many reasons to lose this weight I am documenting my journey for a number of reasons. Firstly, I would like to keep a record of the ups and downs, the highs and lows, and the challenges I face with such an enormous task to tackle. Secondly, I would also like to inspire and encourage other people who are in a similar situation and to show them that significant amounts of weight can be lost naturally…with a bit of motivation, hard work, dedication and will power. Thirdly, all of the blogging, Facebook-ing, Tweet-ing, Pinterest-ing and YouTube-ing keeps me occupied and keeps my fingers out of the fridge!
