Women are often much more worried about their health and society puts a lot of pressure on women of all ages when it comes to looks. Magazines are often filled with guidance on health choices women need to make before they reach the magical age of 30.

But the reality is women can make smart health choices no matter what age they are or what they have done in the past. If you want to take control of your own health, these five health choices are easy to make – today.

1.   Get Tested

Don’t sit at home and wonder what different lumps might mean or whether your symptoms are serious enough to consult a doctor. If you feel under the weather or your body isn’t acting the way it used to, go see a doctor and get tested!

Pay special attention to regular tests such as pap smears and breast check. These tests are focused on preventing the most common illnesses women face and can give you just a little peace of mind.

There’s no reason not to get a regular health check even when nothing is bothering you! An annual doctor’s appointment and blood tests can ensure you stay on top of your heath.

2.   Find an Exercise You Love

Women are different and some of us might not be that into sweating at the gym or doing yoga at the park. But regular exercise is the best way to keep your body in shape and avoid things like chronic pain as you age.

Sport doesn’t even need to feel like sports. You could include an hour-long bike ride with your friends to your fitness regime or read your favourite book while you walk on the treadmill.

Try different exercises and find the one you love!

3.    Add the Super Foods Into Your Diet

Get rid off the constant cycle of dieting by creating healthy eating habits and don’t be too harsh on yourself if you treat yourself with sweets! Life shouldn’t be void of fun and tasty things.

A good way to ensure a balance in your diet is to focus on some of the most important super foods. Eaten regularly (at least twice a week if not more often), the following super foods will ensure you get enough vitamins and minerals to stay active and healthy:

  • Fish
  • Beans and legumes
  • Blueberries and cranberries
  • Tomatoes
  • Vitamin D fortified milk
  • Curcumin
  • Brussels sprouts

4.   Treat Your Mind

A healthy mind is a healthy body and likewise. You shouldn’t just add some yoga and legumes to your lifestyle choices; you should also find ways to treat your mind.

The occasional treat doesn’t even need to be expensive. Find the ways you love to relax and take time to treat yourself throughout your life!

5.   Spend Enough Time in Bed

Finally, women of all ages need to get enough sleep. Sleep is important in helping your brain heal and it ensures your stress hormones don’t start causing trouble to your body.

And remember, the bed is also a great place for some healthy aerobic exercise! So don’t forget that special health choice if you are in a loving relationship.
