Care after BV
Hi,
I recently had an atibiotic treatment for BV ( 5 days course ) then noticed ichiness and swelling so when to doctor and was given canesten tablet from pharmacy which I took yesterday. I noticed quite heavy brown discharge, dont feel pain but the burning sensation again. My parter and I trying for a baby so I dont really want to keep taking medicationwith no effect. What will be the best thing to do now please?

Re: Care after BV
Get an accurate diagnosis by getting the discharge tested & looked at under a microscope at your local sexual health clinic (http://www.bashh.org/BASHH/Clinics/clinics.aspx). If your GP has tried a couple of treatments which haven't worked, this is the only way to make sure you get the appropriate treatment.
Discharge which looks like BV but causes irritation like Thrush (http://www.fpa.org.uk/sites/default/fil ... advice.pdf) could be Trichomonas (http://www.fpa.org.uk/sites/default/fil ... advice.pdf), so don't accept any more guesswork treatment.
